Extensive research carried out in the US has consistently shown that children who are home-schooled score better in exams than children in state schools. The Home School Progress Report of 2009, conducted by Brian Ray of the National Home Education Research Institute and reported in the Washington Times, surveyed more than 11,000 home-schooled children and found that, on average, a home-schooled child scored 37% higher in standardised achievement tests than their publicly-schooled counterparts.

No.
You have the flexibility to complete your coursework on a schedule that works best for you. Since there are no “semesters” with deadlines for completing assignments, you won’t get pushed ahead or be held back by the pace of other students.
Yes! Even though online learning does not schedule courses by traditional semesters, students can enroll in 0.5 credit of a course, any time of year, and complete either the 1st semester or the 2nd semester. This is ideal for students who just need to make up credit for 1 semester of a course. On average, students complete 0.5 credit (1st or 2nd semester) in 3-5 months – about the same time as a semester in a traditional school.
YES! Students can choose to enroll as a full-time student with the goal of earning a High School diploma or enroll in individual courses. There are many reasons for students to enroll in individual courses:
Students can enroll any time of year – not just at the semester break or summer break

All students work one-to-one with a counselor. Enrollment begins with a New Student Orientation that will be reviewed by your child’s counselor. If your child is enrolled in one of the Diploma Programs, his or her counselor will develop a Personal Graduation Plan that outlines the courses needed to earn a High School diploma. Your child’s Personal Graduation Plan will be updated each year your child is enrolled.
Many students feel they are better at some subjects than others. Students often tell us they are great at Math but not English (or vice versa). Self-paced learning removes the stress associated with meeting deadlines for completing courses by the end of the semester. For example, the student who is skilled in Math may move through their Algebra course quickly, while they take their time revising their work in English until they master the concepts in the lesson. Students complete lessons and earn credit for their courses when they have mastered all the lessons in the course. On average, students who work 5 days a week will complete a 1 credit course in 4 – 6 months.
*Note -Self-paced learning does not mean that students can procrastinate in the subjects they don’t love and then expect to submit all the lessons at once. In most courses, students may submit up to 2 lessons per day in each course (1 new lesson and 1 lesson revision, or 2 lesson revisions). We believe that consistency is the best approach for completing courses.
Your student’s Guidance Counselor will help your child develop a Personal Graduation Plan to keep them moving forward toward their goal of graduating!
Students whose native language is not English will enroll in the PLUS program. This ensures that you and your parents will receive the guidance support that will help you succeed.
Once you enroll, you will complete an English Language Assessment. You may be required to take Pre-composition before beginning our high school course work toward meeting your graduation requirements.
YES! Credits are accepted from all public high schools. Students enrolling from non-accredited schools, can request to have a transcript evaluation to determine if credits will transfer.
Online learning allows you to set your own schedule for completing your schoolwork. On average, students who login and submit work in each course 5 days a week will complete their course in 3-5 months. We won’t let you feel overwhelmed with 7-8 courses at a time. Instead, you will be scheduled for 3 courses at a time. This is what lets you stay focused on a few courses. As soon as you complete a course, your next course will be added to your Student Desk.
Students can enroll and begin anytime. Some students enroll now to get a head start on their courses. Students who need to make up lost credits may also enroll now.
Students who wish to start in the Fall of 2024 for the 2024-25 school year, can enroll now, and pick their start date. This will reserve your spot for the 2024-25 school year and avoid being placed on a waiting list for enrollment.
Enrolling is easy! Click on the Register button on our website and complete the easy steps. Yes, all the course work, and communication with the teachers is done online. After you enroll, you will receive a username and password in your email. This will give you access to all of your courses. All new students complete an orientation; however, here is a brief overview:
Students work on three courses at a time.
Each course begins with a Teacher Message and requirements for the course.
You will begin by submitting the assignment in Lesson 1.
Your teacher will respond within 24-48 hours (often sooner). He or she may ask for revisions to improve your assignment until you have mastered the lesson. Typically, students make 3-4 revisions before completing the lesson. Once you “get it,” your teacher will assign a grade and you will move on to the next lesson.
You can submit up to 2 posts a day in most courses. This is what allows you to move through your courses at your pace – not the pace set by a traditional school calendar. Note: 2 posts = 1 new lesson and 1 revision or 2 revisions.
Credits and grades are updated immediately upon completion of the course. You will always have access to view your transcript and Grade Point Average.
All new students begin with the New Student Orientation. Part 1 of Orientation is your introduction to becoming a successful online student. In Part 2 of the Orientation, you will learn about academic integrity and sign the School Honor Code Agreement. Part 3 of the Orientation is a Skills Assessment in reading and math skills. No worries – it is ungraded. The assessments are designed to pinpoint your strengths and areas to improve. They are not used to “place” you in course levels, that choice is up to you.
No and Yes.
No. Online learning is open 24 hours a day, and you may log in at any time of day that fits your schedule. However, we recommend that you set a schedule that allows you to submit work 5 days a week. This is the best way to stay on track to earn 6 credits a year and ultimately to graduate.
Yes – your online activity is logged each time you log in and submit work. If you are asked for proof of enrollment, you may request documentation to verify your activity. Please understand that this only indicates the days you were logged into your school account, and that much of your time “going to school” may be completed offline.
You will simply write to your teacher and ask a question. Your teacher will work one-to-one with you until the concepts are understood.
We understand that parents want assurances that their child is making progress in school. We believe in full transparency. That means you have access to your child’s courses and all of their communications with their teachers and Guidance Counselor. Plus, parents have their own Parent Desk for confidential communication with guidance and school administrators.
Here is how it works:
When you enroll your child, you will be sent your Parent Username and Password to open your Parent Desk. This gives you access to all of your child’s schoolwork. You can easily open each course and view submitted work and communications between your child and their teachers. Additionally, you can open your child’s Course Activity Calendar and view the days they have logged in and submitted work. You will also have a link to communicate confidentially with your child’s Guidance Counselor.
Weekly Summary Progress Report – You will be emailed a link to open a Weekly Summary Progress Report for your child’s work. You will know exactly how many lessons were submitted, and how many lessons are in progress. You will also see the completed lesson and the course average to date.
If you elect to enroll your child in the PLUS Program, you will have the direct-line phone number of your child’s Guidance Counselor. You may call and discuss concerns, or just ask for clarification M – F 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM Eastern Time.
Monthly Detailed Progress Report – You will be emailed a link to open a Monthly Detailed Progress Report for your child’s work. Your child’s Guidance Counselor will provide details of work in progress and completed during the month. You will know exactly how many lessons were submitted, and how many lessons are in progress.
